Once fully mature coconuts are harvested, they undergo a precise separation process in machines that extract the long bristle fibers beneath the nut’s skin, a method known as wet-milling. Following this, the coconut fibers are expertly twisted into robust strings, which are then fashioned into durable coir ground mats. Remarkably, coir fiber is relatively waterproof and is one of the few natural materials that withstand damage from seawater, making it an ideal choice for various applications.
